WHOA!BEAM FAQ!
Q: WHOA!BEAM is a dumb name.
A: That doesn't look like a question...
Q: Okay, why did you name it WHOA!BEAM?
A: The two most common responses to seeing the prototype fire up for the first time are "wow!" and "whoa!" WOW!BEAM didn't sound good. Besides, there's more pun potential with WHOA!BEAM, e.g., WHOA!BEAM is brighter than a low beam!
Q: What options are planned for WHOA!BEAM?
A:
Each WHOA!BEAM is built-to-order using your choice of cool-white (6,500°K), neutral-white
(4,500°K), or warm-white (3,000°K) color temperatures, or choose the photo/film blend (two
neutral, one cool, one warm) for a more even "tone" to the light. Cool-white is the brightest,
reaching to nearly 4,000 lumens, while warm-white is the least powerful (about 3,200 lumens) but
has a more eye-friendly "tone." Neutral, with a typical CRI of 75, gives the best color rendition.
You can also choose from three beam widths; narrow, medium,or wide. Narrow can light up a
distance more effectively, whereas medium is great for lighting up a decent-sized area and
wide is excellent for short ranges. We suggest narrow for "spot" lighting applications, medium
for actual task lighting such as working on a car engine, and wide for lighting up a room.
When in doubt, go with medium.
Q: Why should I consider WHOA!BEAM instead of _product_?
A: A few reasons we can think of:
Q: What kinds of environments can WHOA!BEAM survive?
A:
WHOA!BEAM is built to meet a minimum sealing level of IP66, which means that the entire
assembly is dust-tight and water-resistant. WHOA!BEAM is not built to swim with the
fishies, but exposure to rain and 100% humidity shouldn't pose a problem.
WHOA!BEAM's aluminum-and-tough-plastics construction also makes it able to survive
falls and various types of impact without ill effect. You have to really hit the
unit, hard, to damage it beyond mere cosmetics.
Q: What kind of warranty are you planning to ofer for WHOA!BEAM?
A: Right now we're working to determine what the best warranty duration will be. The parts used on WHOA!BEAM are all long-life and/or replaceable, so we expect it to be lengthy.
